Job summary

Principal People are recruiting a Health and Safety Advisor to support major water utilities projects across the Thames Valley. This hybrid role includes regular travel and close collaboration with operational and project teams to drive HS&E performance.

You will assist the Health and Safety Manager in delivering health, safety and environmental excellence, ensuring compliance with legislation and management systems while promoting a positive safety culture across the business.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate is a minimum requirement.
  • Experience within construction, infrastructure, utilities or water sectors is expected.
  • Strong understanding of HS&E legislation, management systems and risk management.
  • Confident communicator able to engage with operational teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of the HS&E strategy across the framework.
  • Provide practical HS&E advice to operational and site teams.
  • Review Construction Phase Plans, Emergency Response Plans, RAMS and project documentation.
  • Conduct site inspections, HS&E reviews and environmental audits.
  • Support ISO 14001 compliance and environmental performance standards.
  • Investigate incidents and non-conformities and drive corrective actions.
  • Monitor HS&E performance through KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
  • Deliver HS&E briefings, training and best practice guidance.
  • Support supply chain onboarding and ongoing HS&E performance monitoring.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, contractors and stakeholders.

Health and Safety Advisor - £50,000-£55,000 + £5,000 Car Allowance / Company Car + Package – Thames Valley – Water Utilities – ID: 11769

Do you want a role where you can influence operational teams, improve health and safety performance, and support the delivery of major water utilities projects across the Thames Water region?

Principal People are working with a leading infrastructure contractor to recruit a Health and Safety Advisor to support projects across the Thames Water framework. This is a hybrid role with regular travel across the region, working closely with operational and project teams on a range of live infrastructure and environmental projects.

This position will support the Health and Safety Manager in delivering health, safety and environmental excellence across the framework. You will play a key role in supporting operational teams, ensuring compliance with management systems and legislation, and driving continuous improvement across project delivery.

The role is relationship-led and requires someone who is visible on site, confident engaging with teams, and able to influence behaviours while promoting a positive health and safety culture across the business.
