Join us at the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) as the Health and Safety Advisor where you will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and compliant work environment across all organisational activities.
Reporting to the Health and Safety and Estates Manager, the primary focus of this position is to implement and maintain effective health and safety systems and processes that safeguard the wellbeing of all staff and visitors. This includes the rollout of a centralised Health & Safety Management System, coordination of health and safety training, and the establishment of incident reporting frameworks to foster a culture of safety within the organisation.
In addition to health and safety responsibilities, the Advisor will take the lead role in managing the day-to-day facilities operations at Bedford Borough Hall twice a week. This includes welcoming guests, liaising with stakeholders, addressing any facilities issues that arise, and ensuring the overall functionality of the office environment.
The role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels. A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt to changing needs will be essential in creating a safe and welcoming workplace for all.

Flexible Working
At MaPS, we take pride in our flexible approach to work. As standard, we work on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. Hybrid working is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and our headquarters in Bedford will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business needs, but personal and other relevant circumstances will also be considered. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
