Job Title: Health and Safety Advisor

Location: Derby, Derbyshire

Salary: Starting from £40,000 per annum

About the Role:

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join our team at a well-established housing association based in the Derby area. This position is a gap in the team focusing on the construction projects within the business including new builds, university campus conversion, high rise renovation (coming next year). The successful candidate will have to cover the day-to-day service team which includes everything from service, maintenance, joiners, roofers etc. every department is in house apart from scaffolders, which is outsourced, so there will an aspect of dealing with contractors on site.

A typical day would be arriving on site at 7.30am ready for toolbox talks at 8am then out visiting and inspecting the sites doing weekly new build inspections and weekly sport checks on the maintenance teams. You can then work from home after or go back to site, there is a lot of flexibility within this role, it’s an adult environment where you are trusted to get the job done. You’ll be supporting the Health and Safety Manager in working through the action points of the risk register, supporting contractor management (200-300), CDM management and more.

Person Specification:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate as a minimum (as training can be provided)
  • Good CMD knowledge and experience required - whether it is in construction or other sectors like social housing etc.
  • Backgrounds to consider are social housing, construction, FM etc.
  • Driven, self-motivated, good team player and work ethic – someone who wants to be hands-on
  • Someone who is confident, straight talking, honest and assertive, isn’t afraid to call out unsafe behaviours and hold people accountable
  • Good communicator with both internal and external teams including contractors
  • IT System knowledge
