Job Title: Health and Safety Advisor

About the Role:

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join our team at a well-established housing association based in Derby. This role focuses on construction projects including new builds, university campus conversions, and high-rise renovations (coming next year). The successful candidate will also support the day-to-day service team, which includes service, maintenance, joiners, roofers, etc.

A typical day involves arriving on site at 7:30 am for toolbox talks at 8 am, then visiting and inspecting sites, conducting weekly new build inspections, and weekly spot checks on maintenance teams. Flexibility is offered to work from home or return to site. The role supports the Health and Safety Manager in managing risk register actions, contractor management, CDM compliance, and more.

Person Specification:

• NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate (training can be provided)
• Good CDM knowledge and experience, whether in construction or sectors like social housing
• Backgrounds to consider include social housing, construction, facilities management, etc.
• Driven, self-motivated, a good team player with a strong work ethic, and hands-on attitude
• Confidence, honesty, assertiveness, and the ability to call out unsafe behaviors and hold people accountable
• Good communication skills with internal and external teams, including contractors
• IT system knowledge
