A local council in the UK is seeking a Health, Safety & Wellbeing officer to promote a positive safety culture and provide practical training and advice. Key responsibilities include developing health and safety policies, conducting inspections, and supporting staff wellbeing. The ideal candidate holds a NEBOSH Diploma and has experience in a complex environment. This role offers the opportunity to influence health and safety practices across the council.
About the role: As part of an effective Health, Safety & Wellbeing Team within the Chief Executive's Directorate, you will report to the Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing. You will actively promote a positive safety culture and provide practical advice, guidance, support, and training to managers and staff across the Council, including schools.
You will help to develop and implement the council's health and safety policy and management system. You will have responsibility to provide support to all directorates, develop and deliver designated training sessions, conduct site inspections and audits including follow-up visits, and complete and support accident investigations to identify root causes and reasonably practicable improvements for implementation. Supporting the awareness and improvement of staff wellbeing is a key requirement.
You will be flexible with an ability to communicate at all levels and provide practical solutions and influence change for continual improvement of health, safety and wellbeing for staff and managers. You will hold the NEBOSH/NCRQ Diploma or equivalent.
