Job description

Junior Health & Safety Advisor

£45,000 - £55,000 + Company Car + Benefits | New Build Housing | UK Projects

We're working with a growing construction business that is looking to bring a Junior Health & Safety Advisor into the team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who has started their career in Health & Safety and wants to develop their knowledge, gain hands-on site experience and build a long-term career with a company that genuinely invests in its people.

The business has a strong staff retention rate and is quite selective about who they bring into the team. They're looking for someone who is proactive, hands-on and keen to learn, rather than someone who simply wants to sit behind a desk.

You'll be working across a mixture of office and site environments, supporting new-build housing projects across the UK. All projects will be within around 90 minutes of the company's office.

The Role

Working alongside the wider Health & Safety and site teams, you'll be involved in:

  • Assisting with regular site Health & Safety inspections and audits.
  • Supporting site management with the implementation of company Health & Safety procedures.
  • Identifying hazards and unsafe working practices and helping ensure corrective actions are followed through.
  • Assisting with accident and incident investigations.
  • Recording and monitoring near misses and safety observations.
  • Maintaining key Health & Safety documentation, including RAMS, COSHH assessments, inspection records and training records.
  • Supporting site inductions for employees and subcontractors.
  • Monitoring PPE and promoting good housekeeping standards across site.
  • Assisting with toolbox talks and Health & Safety briefings.
  • Liaising with site managers, supervisors and operatives on Health & Safety matters.
  • Helping to monitor compliance with CDM Regulations, the Health & Safety at Work Act, company procedures and client standards.
What they're looking for

This role would suit someone who is at the beginning of their Health & Safety career and is looking for the right environment to develop.

You’ll ideally have:
  • NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum, ideally with a construction focus.
  • CSCS card.
  • Some experience within construction or Health & Safety.
  • Experience with RAMS would be beneficial.
  • Groundworks experience would be particularly useful, although it isn't essential.
  • A practical, hands‑on approach to Health & Safety.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with site teams.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused attitude.
  • The willingness to spend time both on site and in the office.

Most importantly, they're looking for someone who wants to develop over the next few years and grow with the business.

Why join?

The company is growing quickly, which means there is genuine opportunity to progress as you develop your experience.

They're also big on setting targets, goals and KPIs, so you'll have clear expectations and a good understanding of what you need to achieve to move forward.

Training is a big part of the package too. The business invests heavily in developing its people and can support a wide range of additional training and qualifications, including:
  • Degree apprenticeships
  • NVQs
  • NEBOSH qualifications
  • Appointed Person training
  • Working at Height
  • Confined Spaces
  • And other relevant Health & Safety and construction training

You won't be expected to know everything from day one — the important thing is that you're willing to learn, get involved and take responsibility for your development.

The package
  • £40,000 - £55,000
  • Company car
  • Fuel support
  • Basic pension
  • 25 days' holiday + Bank holidays, with the opportunity to increase this
  • Further benefits currently being reviewed
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities
  • Clear long-term progression within a growing business
The person

Personality is important here.

They have a close-knit team and are looking for someone who will fit into that environment — someone who is approachable, driven, a team player and happy to get stuck in.

If you're the type of person who would rather be out on site speaking to operatives and solving problems than sitting behind a desk all day, this could be a really good fit.

Ideally, you'll live within around 60 minutes of the company's office. When you're not on site, the preference is for you to work from the office and be part of the wider team. That said, if you're working on a site close to home, there's flexibility to head home and complete your reports remotely.

If you're looking for a Health & Safety role where you can learn, gain genuine site experience and build a long-term career, we'd be keen to hear from you.

Ganymede is committed to creating a diverse workforce and is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of age, disability, gender, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation
