Devon County Council seeks an experienced health and safety professional for a crucial role based in Exeter. The position involves auditing and implementing safety policies, conducting accident investigations, and delivering training to staff. We are seeking to appoint an experienced health and safety professional to work as an integral member of a busy, supportive, and established team. The role will be based in Exeter, with flexible working and some working from home encouraged. The role will require travel throughout Devon to various teams and establishments.
Key responsibilities include auditing, reviewing, and implementing a wide range of health and safety policies and guidance. You will have designated areas of H&S specialization and be responsible for interpreting legislation and guidance to provide appropriate advice to services and establishments. Additionally, you will develop and deliver in-house and externally accredited training, both face-to-face and remotely, to diverse audiences.
Requirements include holding the NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, being CMIOSH or actively working towards it, with significant post-qualification experience. A thorough knowledge of current H&S legislation is essential, along with the ability to conduct comprehensive accident investigations. Excellent communication skills are necessary to engage with individuals and groups at all organizational levels, including meetings with Directors and management teams. Experience with premises H&S issues such as asbestos and legionella management across multi-site organizations, including educational establishments, is advantageous. A good understanding of Office 365 is also desirable.
