We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Sefton MBCto assist with the appointment of aHealth and Safety Adviser, on a 9-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay:£20.56-£27.25/hour

Summary:

The Health & Safety Adviser will support the Health & Safety Senior Officer in delivering high-quality health and safety advisory services across council departments, with a specific focus on commercial operations and schools. This includes ensuring compliance with legislation, conducting audits and inspections, developing policies and training programs, and providing detailed support and guidance to a wide range of stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the delivery and review of the Councils Health and Safety Strategy.
• Provide expert advice on compliance with health and safety legislation and best practices.
• Conduct audits and inspections across council buildings and schools, covering areas like asbestos, legionella, gas and electrical safety.
• Develop and communicate policies and guidance that support a strong health and safety culture.
• Monitor incident reporting systems, identify trends, and recommend preventive measures.

Requirements:

• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (e.g., SCQF Level 10 or RQF/CQFW Level 6).
• Certified Member of IOSH.
• Literate and numerate to Level 3 standard.
• Proven experience in occupational health and safety.
• Experience producing management reports and delivering training.
  
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience managing building safety issues (e.g., asbestos, legionella, gas, fire).
