An independent brain injury charity is seeking an enthusiastic volunteer to join as a Secretary Trustee. This role involves preparing meeting agendas, taking minutes, and handling compliance tasks. The committee meets monthly, and you'll work closely with existing members to ensure smooth operations. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of brain injury survivors and their families while gaining valuable experience in charitable governance. If you are passionate about supporting others and want to contribute to a meaningful cause, this role could be perfect for you.
Headway West London is an independent brain injury charity affiliated with, but separate from, Headway UK. We serve the boroughs of Ealing, Hounslow, Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea, and Westminster (though our trustees come from across London!). We provide information and services to support adult brain injury survivors (together with their families and carers) as they leave the major trauma hospitals and begin their rehabilitation process. We aim to make a difference by providing support, practical information, rehabilitation pathways, and by encouraging peer support. All of our trustees are volunteers, and we employ two part-time employees.
The committee members at Headway West London are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to join our committee, taking on the role of our Secretary Trustee. Our committee meets monthly remotely (on the second Thursday of each month). As Secretary, you will be required to prepare the agenda for each meeting and take minutes. You will also be responsible for some compliance tasks including updating Companies House and the Charity Commission. You will work with the other trustees to help ensure the smooth running of this small charity to make a huge difference to its’ members.
No previous experience of being a trustee is required. You will work with the existing Secretary to ensure a successful handover.
Please don’t hesitate to contact our Chair, Laura Murphy, at chair@headwaywestlondon.org.uk if you are interested in the role or if you have any questions. Please provide a copy of your CV and let us know about any lived or closed experience with brain injury.
