Job description

Finham Park Multi Academy Trust is delighted to announce that we are recruiting a Headteacher for Lyng Hall for September 2025. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for the right candidate to shape the immediate and long-term future for the school, supported by a close-knit community of other Headteachers and colleagues across the Trust.

Lyng Hall School is a slightly smaller than average 11-18 secondary school serving communities in the North-East of Coventry. The school therefore has a comprehensive intake of pupils. Lyng Hall was judged by Ofsted as 'Good' for all areas except the 'Quality of Education' that was deemed as Requires Improvement in November 2024. Although the school has continued to flourish since the 2019 inspection, published outcomes have not recovered quickly enough since the COVID pandemic. The Published Admissions Number (PAN) is 150 with a temporary increase to 180 pupils in several year groups over the last few years. The Sixth Form continues to grow in popularity and has a bespoke offer as part of a Trust-wide Post-16 strategy. It is our belief that Lyng Hall will become a learning community to rival the best on a national and international stage in the future.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Be an already experienced and successful leader with the potential to become 'World Class'; a willing and capable learner who is able to articulate a vision for the school and who will inspire and empower others to share in achieving it.
  2. Have a determination to consolidate improvement, build on strengths and lead the school to even greater success.
  3. Inspire positive attitudes and motivate students and staff, ensuring all are valued and supported to be the best they can be.
  4. Be passionate about making a difference for every child.
  5. Have a strong presence, maintaining and developing excellent relationships between staff, governors, parents, students, and the wider community.
  6. Be committed to becoming involved at a strategic level in the development and growth of our Multi Academy Trust - unique in its ambition to promote co-construction at all levels with the CEO/Executive Headteacher and other colleagues from the Trust and its schools.

The successful candidate will lead Lyng Hall and continue the drive to become a 'World Class' school where all students have the times of their lives! We are looking to appoint a charismatic, dynamic individual with exceptional leadership skills, who naturally inspires others and is passionate about teaching and its impact on learning. The successful candidate will be driven by a commitment to create the best possible educational opportunities for all students, in order to raise aspirations and transform lives.

Schools in the Finham Park Multi Academy Trust will set out to pioneer, innovate and deliver a 'World Class' education for all children from the age of 3-19 where the artificial barriers of stage and age are removed. Our education will aim to exceed the highest national and international benchmarks for academic achievement, whilst ensuring young people develop a passion for learning in all its contexts and are ready to take their place as active members of our global community. The schools in Finham Park Multi Academy Trust will seek to move beyond collaboration and into co-construction - ensuring our education is developed with and by all members to reflect the needs of our children, their families, and the wider community.
