Job description

Headteacher of Wilsthorpe School £117,600-£132,870 (L34-L39). Pay award pending. For January 2027 Wilsthorpe School is a highly respected, oversubscribed 11-18 school with over 1,200 students located close to Junction 25 of the M1in the suburb of Long Eaton, easily commutable from Derby, Nottingham and the surrounding areas with good transport links. The school offers an ambitious and supportive environment which enables every member of the Wilsthorpe family to "Be The Best You Can Be". Our students succeed because they are motivated to learn well, behave well, and meet our high expectations for what they can achieve. Two essential elements make Wilsthorpe School a special place to be: Excellence in Learning, which is characterised by an uncompromising focus on learning and academic outcomes, and Relationships First, which means that staff are "100% kind and 100% consistent". Due to the promotion of the existing Headteacher, who has led Wilsthorpe for over 5 years to the point that measures of student attainment, progress, attendance and behaviour out-perform local and national averages, we are now seeking an exceptional leader to continue the journey of improvement. We are seeking an experienced and ambitious leader, who possesses the ability to work in partnership with families, staff, students, governors and a range of stakeholders, inspiring everyone to contribute to a culture of both high challenge and high support. This is an exciting role in an exceptional school with strong relationships with students, families and staff. Parents highly value the work the school does with children. One comment from a parent, typical of many, is "This is a wonderful school, with dedicated teachers. I cannot praise them highly enough". This role offers a fantastic opportunity to further your career and make a pivotal contribution to a unique professional community.
