Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Head Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and compassionate team at Medivet Brighton full-time. A well-established practice located in the heart of one of the UK’s most iconic and vibrant cities. We’re a two-vet clinic, supported by a close-knit team including one full-time HRVN, a part-time RVN, a full-time Veterinary Care Assistant, two Client Care Assistants (one full-time and one part-time), and a dedicated Practice Manager. We’re now looking for a new Head Veterinary Nurse to join the team and help lead the nursing side of our practice with confidence, compassion and enthusiasm.

The clinic is well-equipped with dental and digital x-ray, ultrasound, a full in-house laboratory, kennels and a dedicated theatre, giving you the tools and space to deliver exceptional patient care with a strong balance of surgery and consults.

This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced RVN ready to take the next step into leadership, or a current Head Nurse looking for a fresh challenge in a supportive, forward-thinking environment. Experience with clinical coaching is ideal but not essential. The role offers excellent work-life balance with a 1 in 3 Saturday morning rota, no out-of-hours or bank holiday work, and consistent shift patterns (across 40 hours per week) that allow you to enjoy everything Brighton has to offer outside of work. Role Accountabilities

In this role you will:

Provide clinical leadership to the nursing team.

Consistently deliver exceptional care to your clients.

Support with surgeries and procedures, completing all pre and post procedure activity.

Lead, manage and promote nurse led appointments and Schedule 3 surgeries.

Deliver patient monitoring and care.

Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the Veterinary team.

Complete patient transfers to out of hours or enhanced care.

Dispense and check medication.

Deliver professional excellence, implementing and complying with all regulatory, practice and operational standards.

Inspire your team, sharing new or evolving practice standards and changes to processes.

Engage, coach and develop your team.

Pro-actively support and share clinical best practice across practices and the wider Medivet community.

Your Skills and Experience

RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse.

Experience of delivering exceptional patient and client care.

Able to confidently lead a clinical team.

Experience of implementing a progressive clinical culture through nurse clinics and nurse consultations.

Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
