Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Head Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and compassionate team at Medivet Brighton full-time. A well-established practice located in the heart of one of the UK’s most iconic and vibrant cities. Brighton is famed for its inclusive culture, independent spirit, creative energy and seaside charm — with its famous beach, lively lanes, festivals, cafés and art scene all just minutes from the practice. Whether you’re into live music, coastal walks, great food or quirky shopping, Brighton offers a lifestyle that’s hard to match.

Our practice is known locally for its warmth, kindness and continuity of care, and we’re proud to have built a strong reputation among our loyal client base. We’re a two-vet clinic, supported by a close-knit team including one full-time HRVN, a part-time RVN, a full-time Veterinary Care Assistant, two Client Care Assistants (one full-time and one part-time), and a dedicated Practice Manager. We’re now looking for a new Head Veterinary Nurse to join the team and help lead the nursing side of our practice with confidence, compassion and enthusiasm.

The clinic is well-equipped with dental and digital x-ray, ultrasound, a full in-house laboratory, kennels and a dedicated theatre, giving you the tools and space to deliver exceptional patient care with a strong balance of surgery and consults.

This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced RVN ready to take the next step into leadership, or a current Head Nurse looking for a fresh challenge in a supportive, forward-thinking environment. Experience with clinical coaching is ideal but not essential. The role offers excellent work-life balance with a 1 in 3 Saturday morning rota, no out-of-hours or bank holiday work, and consistent shift patterns (across 40 hours per week) that allow you to enjoy everything Brighton has to offer outside of work. If you’re passionate about nursing, thrive in a team-focused setting, and want to make a real impact in a community-minded practice, we’d love to hear from you.

For an initial, informal conversation, please contact joanne.gray@medivet.co.uk.

Health cash plan from day one (covering dental, physio and optical services) with 24/7 Private GP Service.

Life Assurance 3 x salary.

Access to 24-hour counselling by phone or in person should you feel you need support.

5 weeks’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays rising to 6 with length of service.

An additional ‘Day for You’, a paid day’s leave for you to use as you wish.

Clinical CPD: £750 per year plus 2 days’ paid leave

Internal CPD and access to Clinical Communities

Funded certificate opportunities.

VDS and RCVS fees paid.

Interest free Season Ticket Loan.

Cycle to Work scheme.

Discounts on Medivet products and services.
