Job summary

V.Group is seeking a Head Tunnelman for a self-unloader bulk carrier on a contract, shipboard basis. You will be responsible for the operation and upkeep of the vessel’s tunnel machinery and conveyor systems and report to the Chief Engineer and Chief Officer.

The role requires coordinating tunnel preparation before loading and discharge, while ensuring safety and environmental compliance and performing routine maintenance on related equipment and systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and operate the vessel’s self-unloading cargo system and tunnel machinery.
• Coordinate tunnel preparation before loading and discharge.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company procedures during cargo operations.
• Perform maintenance on conveyor systems, gates, belts, fluid drives, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, rollers, and bearings.
• Support safe working practices and environmental procedures.
