You will be GTCS registered (Primary) and have the Standard for Headship (SFH), or equivalent, as detailed on the GTCS website: GTCS Headship Standards.
The role of the Head Teacher is to promote high-quality learning and teaching to secure improved educational outcomes for pupils and the community, under the direction of the local Council. Head Teachers have a corporate responsibility to contribute to ongoing improvement in their school and across the Council area.
You will be able to demonstrate the standard for headship. You will have proven experience as a Deputy Head Teacher/Head Teacher and up-to-date knowledge of Curriculum for Excellence.
You will have a strong record in raising pupil attainment and achievement, experience of School Improvement Planning, managing budgets and resources, and staff leadership, management, and supervision.
You will also have evidence of appropriate Professional Learning in various areas and be committed to a consultative and participative management style. Additionally, you should have a positive and caring approach, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and relate well to others.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check before a formal offer of employment is made by Dundee City Council.
