Location: Danestone School, Aberdeen

Duration: Permanent, Full Time

Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full-time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above, currently £30,285 per annum / £16.64 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

Job Purpose/About The Role

To lead and manage the affairs of the school enabling the delivery of quality education through the appropriate involvement of pupils, staff, parents, multidisciplinary agencies, and the communities it serves. This will be done in accordance with the authority’s strategic plan, the school’s/service’s improvement/service plans, the national improvement framework drivers and outcomes, in accordance with current legislation and within national and local agreements.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the provisions of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 2003
  • Effective management of human resourcing matters including industrial/employee relations and health and safety, continually improving performance of self and others to achieve excellence in service delivery and organisational capability
  • Strategic thinking, organisational and motivational skills
  • High order interpersonal skills to facilitate effective communication with colleagues, pupils, parents/carers, and partners
  • Ability to promote and deliver equality of opportunity to staff and service users
  • Setting and securing high expectations and standards through professional advice, reviewing professional needs and performance, and supporting career-long professional learning of colleagues
