Hamilton Lodge School and College is seeking an inspirational Head Teacher to guide its exceptional provision for Deaf learners. You will provide strong leadership alongside a committed team, ensuring educational success and a nurturing environment. This role includes exciting initiatives for community engagement and enhancing educational opportunities within a reputable residential school setting.
Hamilton Lodge School and College is a popular and highly regarded special residential school, offering both day and residential places, for learners aged 11-19 with an identified primary need of Deafness. Some of the learners also have significant additional needs. Over the years, Deaf education has evolved and the provision at the school has recently been restructured to meet future demands. Hamilton Lodge is now looking for a Head Teacher to lead it on the next steps of this exciting journey.
The curriculum has been developed to best prepare learners for life beyond school and college and to give them the best possible opportunities to progress in their learning and follow their dreams. The school offers a range of accredited qualifications including Signature BSL, GCSE, Entry Level awards, Functional Skills and AQA Unit Awards. Residential care is closely integrated with the educational provision to ensure each individual learner’s experience is a positive and progressive one.
You will lead a team of experienced and enthusiastic education, residential and support professionals who are committed to the success of the students and young people and who are eager to work alongside the new Head Teacher to ensure the school thrives.
There are exciting plans to further enrich the school by developing a Hub to support Deaf learners and their families and carers in the local area as well as to promote a wider understanding of and engagement with Deaf culture in the wider community.
We are seeking to appoint an inspirational Headteacher who shares our optimism for the future of the school. Candidates should be able to demonstrate recent, successful, and sustained impact as a middle or senior leader although previous experience of working in a school or provision for the Deaf is not a requirement of the role. You must be confident, approachable and have the skills to work collaboratively, build effective teams and also to be a present and visible leader who leads by example. You will provide inspiring, professional and purposeful leadership and continue to secure Hamilton Lodge’s success and improvement, ensuring high quality education and residential care for all its students.
