Holding the Standard for Headship is a prerequisite for teachers taking their first permanent headteacher post in Scotland from 1 August 2020, under Section 28 of the Education (Scotland) Act 2016. There are exemptions for certain circumstances, detailed in the original description.

Requirements

This role involves regulated work with children and/or vulnerable adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The successful candidate will need to join or update their PVG Scheme membership. If the candidate has spent over three months outside the UK in the last five years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check is required. All pre-employment checks must be satisfactory before employment begins.
