Holding the Standard for Headship is a prerequisite for teachers taking their first permanent headteacher post in Scotland from 1 August 2020, under Section 28 of the Education (Scotland) Act 2016. There are exemptions for certain circumstances, detailed in the original description.

This role involves regulated work with children and/or vulnerable adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The successful candidate will need to join or update their PVG Scheme membership.
