Job summary

South Lanarkshire Council is recruiting a Cook in Charge at Kirklandpark Primary School, Strathaven, to oversee a quality catering service and supervise a team of Facility Assistants (catering).

The role involves meal preparation, ordering, quality audits, hygiene compliance and staff supervision. Working hours are Monday to Friday 7.30am–3pm, 35 hours per week, with a salary of £26,479–£27,063 per year. Overseas checks may apply.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering operations and staff supervision preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety and HACCP principles preferred.
• Good communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of Facility Assistants (Catering) and manage training and recruitment.
• Provide a quality catering service and report stock/quality issues to management.
• Count and balance cash, record financial transactions, and prepare meals.
• Cook and present a varied menu and manage function catering as required.
• Ensure proper storage, preparation, cooking, and cleaning of kitchen areas and equipment.
