Our friendly team in Medivet Northallerton are dedicated and experienced small and large animal vets who are committed to providing excellence in veterinary care for small pets, horses, farm animals, and exotic pets whether at the surgery, at home or on the farm.

Northallerton have been providing veterinary care for the community since before the First World War and has been at the current, central Northallerton location for over 50 years. Through diligence, clinical excellence and above all compassion, the practice has built a reputation for outstanding and comprehensive veterinary services.

As the HRVN for this veterinary team you will care for our small animal client base and is fantastic opportunity for a Head Veterinary Nurse that maybe looking to take the next step in their career within a well-established and forward-thinking team. You will play a key leadership role—overseeing clinical standards, supporting and mentoring the nursing team, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.

Role Accountabilities

In this role you will:

  • Provide clinical leadership to the nursing team.

  • Consistently deliver exceptional care to your clients.

  • Support with surgeries and procedures, completing all pre and post procedure activity.

  • Lead, manage and promote nurse led appointments and Schedule 3 surgeries.

  • Deliver patient monitoring and care.

  • Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the Veterinary team.

  • Complete patient transfers to out of hours or enhanced care.

  • Dispense and check medication.

  • Deliver professional excellence, implementing and complying with all regulatory, practice and operational standards.

  • Inspire your team, sharing new or evolving practice standards and changes to processes.

  • Engage, coach and develop your team.

  • Pro-actively support and share clinical best practice across practices and the wider Medivet community.

Your Skills and Experience

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse.

  • Experience of delivering exceptional patient and client care.

  • Able to confidently lead a clinical team.

  • Experience of implementing a progressive clinical culture through nurse clinics and nurse consultations.

  • Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
