Job description

Is culture important to you?
We have an unmissable opportunity for a Head Veterinary Nurse to join our diverse and friendly team at Bristol Imperial Vets for Pets, a well-established locally owned practice.

About us:
The practice is independently run by Ben Kelly and supported by a fantastic team committed to delivering an inclusive work environment and outstanding level of service to our patients, clients and community. With a great team spirit, we are proud to operate a Just Culture.

Proud owners of an ISFM Silver Certificate Cat Friendly Clinic award, a RAW Silver Rabbit Friendly award and an approved Veterinary Nurse Training Practice, we also have all the facilities and equipment you'd expect from a thriving GP small animal practice.

Our nurse team utilise their skills to their full potential, taking and processing blood samples, catheters, stitch ups, dental scale and polishes, x-rays and monitoring anaesthetics, nurse clinics and in-patient care.

You and the role:
Reporting into our experienced Practice Manager, you'll work closely together in ensuring the smooth running of the practice, as well as having direct line management responsibility for our team of 3 RVNs, 1 student nurse and 2 VCAs.

An inspiring, composed leader with great communication skills, you'll know how to get the best out of your team whilst also working with the vets in the practice to maximise efficiencies and promote a culture of continuous quality improvement and clinical excellence.

Due to the nature of this role, this is a full-time position 40 hours a week but happy to negotiate to a minimum of 35 hours a week, including just 1 in 5 weekends and no OOH, no on calls and no back up rotas - your time off is your time off!

The benefits:
In addition to a highly rewarding role, you can also expect to receive:
  • Competitive salary circa £30,000 per annum/pro rata
  • No out of hours
  • 5.6 weeks holiday including bank holidays (pro rata), increasing with service
  • Paid professional memberships including RCVS and VDS
  • CPD encouraged and supported
  • Life assurance 4 x annual salary
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Colleague reward hub - exclusive offers and discounts online and on the high street, including 20% off at Pets at Home, Vets4Pets and the Groom Room

If you are not currently based in the Bristol area and apply directly, we can also offer you a £1,500 relocation allowance.

We are ideally located in an area with great local amenities, plenty of parking and good public transport links with the train station and nearest airport just 15 minutes away. The M4, M5 and M32 are also easily accessible, taking you to other towns and cities within the UK including the beautiful Cotswolds and South-West coast which are also nearby.
