Job summary

Kingsbury School in Tamworth is seeking a Head of Year to lead a year group from January 2027. You will be a visible presence, set high expectations, and work with pastoral services to support attendance, behaviour and pupil development.

The role suits an aspiring or existing pastoral leader able to build relationships, use data for targeted challenge and contribute to school improvement within Science or Technology disciplines. TLR2b available with a permanent contract.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a year group or pastoral team in a secondary setting.
• Proven ability to improve attendance and behaviour through data-informed actions.
• Strong relational and communication skills with families and staff.
• Ability to teach Science or Technology and contribute to curriculum planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead a year group, ensuring students are known, supported and challenged.
• Develop an ambitious year-group culture with high attendance and punctuality.
• Manage tutors, quality assure the tutor programme and support tutor time.
• Collaborate with safeguarding, SEND and inclusion teams to remove barriers.
• Monitor academic progress and address underachievement with curriculum leaders.
• Build strong relationships with parents and carers and lead target-driven interventions.
