Our client is a leading FMCG Distribution business, recruiting for a Head of Workshop (VMU) at their head office in Lancaster. The role involves managing a national fleet of over 150 vehicles and 160 trailers, operating 24/7, 365 days a year.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and motivate a team of 40 Maintenance Technicians, managing attendance, productivity, and conduct
  • Set and monitor KPIs for national fleet operations
  • Develop a customer-focused team environment
  • Improve and develop maintenance processes and procedures
  • Control costs and manage supplier relationships
  • Ensure compliance with legal, health & safety, and HACCP standards
  • Oversee accident/defect investigations and report suspicious incidents
  • Regularly audit fleet to ensure compliance
  • Represent the department in meetings
Candidate Requirements
  • Excellent knowledge of EU legislation, VOSA & DVSA regulations
  • Experience managing external contracts and procurement
  • Recognised apprenticeship in HGV Mechanics (e.g., City & Guilds)
