We are partnering with a leading global bank to appoint a Head of Workday. This senior leadership role owns the bank's global Workday platform end to end: strategy, roadmap, delivery, run and value.
You will turn Workday from a system of record into the backbone of an AI-enabled employee experience for tens of thousands of colleagues worldwide. You will lead a global product and engineering organisation, and be the senior point of accountability to HR, Technology, Finance, Risk and Workday itself.
Success will be measured in adoption, simplification, cost and control, not go-lives.
What you'll do
Strategy and roadmap
- Define and own the 3-5 year Workday platform strategy, aligned to Group HR and Technology strategy
- Prioritise the roadmap across HCM, Recruiting, Talent, Learning, Compensation, Absence, Time Tracking and Extend
- Lead adoption of Workday AI and agentic capabilities, and shape where Workday sits in the wider HR technology stack
Delivery and run
- Own platform health, including the twice-yearly release cycle, security configuration, data integrity and service performance
- Lead major change programmes, including module rollouts, country deployments, M&A integration and legacy decommissioning
- Oversee a robust integration architecture connecting Workday to payroll, finance, identity and data platforms
Commercial and partners
- Own the Workday relationship at executive level, including licence strategy and renewals
- Manage systems integrators and managed service partners against quality and commercial outcomes
- Own the platform budget and deliver measurable cost efficiency
Leadership
- Lead a global team of 40-80 product owners, functional and technical leads, integration engineers and platform operations staff, across onshore and offshore locations
- Build capability and succession in a competitive talent market
- Represent HR Technology at executive forums and influence senior stakeholders across the bank
Risk and control
- Own the platform control environment, including access management, change control, data privacy and operational resilience
- Meet regulatory expectations on third-party and outsourcing risk
What you'll bring
- Senior leadership of a global Workday estate, ideally 50,000+ employees across multiple countries
- Deep functional knowledge of Workday HCM and at least two further modules, with a strong grasp of integrations, security and the release cycle
- A track record of large-scale HR technology transformation with measurable outcomes
- Experience leading large teams, including offshore and partner resources
- Executive presence and the ability to influence the CHRO, CIO and business leaders
- Strong commercial and vendor negotiation skills
- Experience in a regulated environment
- Exposure to Workday AI, Extend or Prism Analytics
- M&A integration or divestment experience on Workday
Why apply
This is a chance to shape one of the largest Workday estates in financial services at a pivotal moment, as AI changes how people work. The role offers genuine scope, executive visibility and the mandate to lead.
