Interim Head of Waste & Green Spaces
London Borough Council
£455 per day PAYE - £650 per day Umbrella or Deemed LTD (Inside IR35)
6 months | Hybrid | ASAP Start

I'm working with a London Borough seeking an experienced Interim Head of Waste & Green Spaces to lead a high-performing environmental services function.

This key leadership role manages a large frontline workforce (500+ via direct and agency routes) across waste management, street cleansing, parks and green spaces, cemeteries & crematoria, and depot operations. With up to 15 direct reports, you’ll be the strategic lead for service transformation, compliance, and innovation aligned with corporate priorities and environmental policies.

Key Priorities:

1. Lead and improve operational delivery of all frontline waste and green space services.
2. Develop future strategies across waste, biodiversity, and carbon reduction.
3. Drive commercial outcomes while ensuring high resident satisfaction.
4. Lead cross-council collaboration, depot oversight, and multi-stakeholder engagement.
5. Deliver against MTFF targets, ensuring robust budget control (c.£29m).

You are expected to lead from the front—visible on the ground, proactive with stakeholders, and confident in challenging internal and external partners to elevate standards.
