Head of UK & Ireland HVDC Operation and Maintenance

About the Role

As the Head of UK & Ireland HVDC Operation and Maintenance, you will lead the development, implementation, and management of our HVDC business in these regions. Your responsibilities include delivering on existing contracts and introducing innovative solutions for the operation and maintenance of a growing customer portfolio, ensuring the efficient and reliable functioning of customer assets.

You will demonstrate strong leadership, critical thinking, and excellent communication and organizational skills. Your role is key in driving the success of our HVDC business, fostering collaboration, and achieving operational goals.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Promote and demonstrate a Zero Harm culture within the team and service organization.
  • Develop and implement a strategic business plan for HVDC growth in the UK & Ireland, aligning with GIS colleagues and business objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with industry stakeholders, including customers, interconnector owners, regulators, and organizations.
  • Collaborate to develop asset management strategies that improve value and maintain ISO55001 certification.
  • Identify new business opportunities and coordinate with sales, engineering, and Global Service Line Management teams to create tailored solutions.
  • Supervise team resources, monitor financial performance, and ensure long-term success.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Business, or related field; advanced degrees or professional qualifications are a plus.
  • Extensive experience in maintenance, repair, and modernization services, preferably within the electrical grid industry.
  • Proven leadership in managing high-performance teams.
  • Strong critical thinking, planning, and problem-solving skills, with commercial acumen.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Deep knowledge of the UK & Ireland electrical grid market, including technologies, regulations, and trends, along with financial and business management skills.
