Job description

An aviation company in Oxford is seeking a Head of the Training Academy to enhance customer support and diversify their services. The role involves developing a comprehensive Training Academy, recognized as the UK's premier aerospace training center, focusing on internal technical and non-technical training as well as external offerings to diversify revenue streams.

The Head of Training Academy will be responsible for establishing and managing a robust training platform with the following characteristics:

  • A broad catalogue of regulated and non-regulated aerospace courses for both internal and external markets.
  • Recognition as the No. 1 training provider in the UK within the aerospace industry, known for excellence and reliability.
  • Sufficient training resources, including instructors, mentors, and materials, scaled to meet market demands.
  • An efficient training management system for scheduling and external bookings.
  • A profitable and sustainable operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a dedicated cost center and team, controlling costs and revenues for Maintenance Training.
  • Staff and develop the instructor and mentor team to meet course capacity goals.
  • Create a roadmap for achieving P.147 training approval for all supported aircraft types.
  • Develop a comprehensive training catalogue.
  • Implement an effective training management and booking system.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proven success in project delivery.
  • Leadership across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Expertise in project planning, risk management, and control.
  • Financial and contractual project management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and senior management.
  • Knowledge of relevant aerospace regulations, including Part 145, Part 147, Part CAMO, and non-regulated training.

Education, Qualifications, or Training:

Essential

  • Experience in aerospace project management, business improvement, or training environments.

Desirable

  • Experience in aerospace training and knowledge of the UK aerospace training market.

Additional Requirements:

  • Compliance with Export Regulations.
  • Position based at Oxford Airport, Kidlington.
