Job summary

ABS Commercial Solutions is seeking a Head of Training to lead and grow our established Training Academy in Chorley. The role combines hands-on training delivery with leadership, business development and commercial growth, across utilities, construction and infrastructure sectors.

You will report to the COO and own the Academy’s performance, developing new training opportunities and driving continued growth in a hybrid/flexible working environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a senior training or training centre management role.
• Background in utilities, construction, infrastructure or technical training.
• Experience delivering training while managing or developing a training function.
• Strong commercial awareness with business development experience.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to identify opportunities and drive growth.
• Experience with industry accreditations (Streetworks, EUSR, SHEA) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations and strategic development of the Training Academy.
• Manage and develop a team of trainers while delivering hands-on training.
• Identify new business opportunities and build client relationships in utilities and infrastructure.
• Develop new courses and expand the Academy's training portfolio.
• Drive revenue growth, profitability, and overall commercial performance.
• Maintain high standards of training delivery, compliance and accreditations.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on future direction.

Salary: Up to £70,000 + Car Allowance + Performance Bonus

The Opportunity

ABS Commercial Solutions is looking for an experienced and commercially driven Head of Training to lead and grow our established Training Academy.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys combining hands-on training delivery with leadership, business development and commercial growth.

Our Training Academy delivers technical, compliance and professional development courses across the utilities, construction and infrastructure sectors.

Reporting directly to the COO, you'll take ownership of the Academy's performance, develop new training opportunities and play a key role in driving its continued growth.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading the day-to-day operations and strategic development of the Training Academy.
• Managing and developing a team of trainers while remaining involved in hands-on training delivery.
• Identifying new business opportunities and building relationships with clients across utilities and infrastructure.
• Developing new courses and expanding the Academy's training portfolio.
• Driving revenue growth, profitability and overall commercial performance.
• Maintaining high standards of training delivery, compliance and industry accreditations.
• Working closely with senior leadership to shape the Academy's future direction.

What We're Looking For

• Experience in a senior training, training centre management or commercial training role.
• A background in utilities, construction, infrastructure or technical training.
• Experience delivering training alongside managing or developing a training function.
• Strong commercial awareness, ideally with experience in business development or growing training services.
• Excellent leadership, communication and relationship-building skills.
• A proactive, ambitious approach with the ability to identify opportunities and drive growth.
• Experience with Streetworks, EUSR, SHEA or other industry-accredited training would be particularly advantageous.
