Location: South Buckinghamshire
Contract: Permanent Full-time – 37.5 hours per week, Mon to Friday, 9am to 5pm
Salary Range: £63,000 to £70,000

Job Description:

Castlefield Recruitment is partnering with a leading charity based in Buckinghamshire seeking a qualified and experienced Clinical Scientist with HCPC registration to lead their Epilepsy Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) Unit, the UK's foremost provider of anti-seizure drug monitoring services. The ISO15189 accredited service offers personalized medication dosing support for people with epilepsy, improving seizure control and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain the ISO15189 accredited laboratory.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Maintain and improve the quality of analytical services.
  • Implement and uphold ISO15189:2022 standards.
  • Manage laboratory information systems in compliance with regulations.
Main Duties:
Service Delivery
  • Collaborate with the TDM team to ensure high-quality, timely results.
  • Review, validate, interpret, and report results daily.
  • Provide scientific and clinical advice to service users.
  • Review and revalidate LCMS assays; develop new assays and secure accreditation.
  • Oversee maintenance of LCMS and lab equipment.
  • Coordinate with colleagues and the Directorate to ensure resource availability.
Quality, Compliance and Safety
  • Work with the Quality Manager to meet ISO15189:2022 standards.
  • Ensure all procedures meet quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy and reliability in analyses.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
People Leadership
  • Manage scientific and support staff, ensuring effective performance and development.
  • Support team members' professional growth and CPD.
  • Foster integration and communication within the organization.
External Relations
  • Coordinate regulatory inspections.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external clients.
Other Duties
  • Lead risk management efforts.
  • Maintain HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist.
  • Possess experience managing a regulated (ISO15189) clinical laboratory.
  • Have experience in staff training, mentoring, assay development, automation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Possess relevant degrees and professional qualifications.
