Job description

Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead our company's technological vision and strategies. The CTO reports to the General Manager (GM) of the Line-of-Businesses Group, which comprises three LOBs that primarily provide cellular, radio, satellite communication, and sensor products. The CTO will focus on creating and implementing technology strategies that support the production and delivery of projects and programs.

Responsibilities

1. Technology Strategy and Leadership:

  • Vision and Strategy Development: Develop and lead the execution of the company's technological vision and strategy, aligned with the overall business objectives and market trends in multi-domain communication networks and sensors.
  • Innovation and Improvement: Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in existing technologies and products to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Industry Trends and Compliance: Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to communication networks and sensors.
  • Alignment with Resources: Align the company’s technology and its resources to support the strategic goals and operational needs.

2. Team Leadership and Talent Management:

  • Technical Expertise and Mentorship: Provide technical expertise, mentorship, and guidance to the engineering team, encouraging individual growth and professional development.
  • Team Development: Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, ensuring that team members are motivated and aligned with the company's vision and goals.

3. Technological Partnership Management:

  • Partnership Evaluation: Evaluate, select, and manage relationships with external technology providers and strategic partners to maximize outcomes and minimize risks.
  • Collaboration and Networking: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including vendors, customers, and industry experts.

4. Budgeting and Resource Allocation:

  • R&D Budget Management: Collaborate with the management team to create and manage the R&D budget, ensuring prudent allocation of resources and cost-effective solutions.
  • Resource Optimization: Optimize resource utilization, including staffing, hardware, software, and infrastructure investments, to achieve business objectives.
  • Tax Rebate Maximization: Maximize tax rebates arising from R&D investments.

5. Cross-Departmental Collaboration:

  • Product Management and Development: Work in collaboration with other BU and Dept Heads for the management of product development and production to achieve the organization’s short- and long-term goals.

6. Executive Management and Governance:

  • Executive Management Team: Serve on the Executive Management Team to align technology goals with other business units and organizational objectives.
  • R&D Strategic Committee: Secretariat the R&D Strategic Committee (RDSC) meeting, ensuring alignment and strategic direction in R&D initiatives.

Requirements

  • Proven experience (>10 years) in a senior technology leadership role, preferably as a CTO or similar position.

· Deep understanding of multi-domain communication networks, sensor technologies, 5G technology, and telecommunications standards

· Strong strategic thinking and business acumen, with the ability to align technology initiatives with company goals

· Excellent leadership and team-building skills, with a track record of managing and motivating technical teams

· Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation

· Working location is in Ang Mo Kio
