Job summary

St. Cuthbert’s RC High School is seeking a visionary Head of Department for Technology to lead and innovate the Technology department. You will shape the curriculum across key stages, inspiring teachers and students through creative, hands-on learning and strong leadership.

You will manage a team of teachers and technicians, drive facilities development, and contribute to a culture of high aspiration. The role offers professional development within a supportive Trust and school community.

Qualifications

• Experienced teacher with a strong track record in Technology (Resistant Materials, Engineering, Product Design, or related specialisms).
• Leadership, creativity, and drive to raise standards and build an inspiring department.
• Fresh ideas, enthusiasm, and passion for hands‑on learning.

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic development of Technology across all key stages, ensuring a curriculum that is creative, relevant, and ambitious.
• Deliver engaging, high-quality lessons that ignite curiosity and celebrate practical skills and design thinking.
• Inspire students to develop confidence, creativity, and resilience through hands‑on learning and problem‑solving.
• Manage and develop a dedicated team of teachers and technicians, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
• Oversee the effective use of specialist spaces, equipment, and materials to ensure a safe, modern environment.
• Contribute to a positive school culture and be a role model within the faculty.
