Sagentia Defence has a track record of success, as a trusted partner to customers within highly regulated Government programmes. We are seeking a Head of Systems and Supportability Engineering (S&SE) to lead our engineering team.

The Head of Systems and Supportability Engineering will build and lead a team, setting strategy and delivering multidisciplinary support for complex Government programmes.

The S&SE team manages requirements throughout the Systems Engineering lifecycle, including elicitation, management, testing, and acceptance.

What we’re looking for?

The ideal candidate has a consultancy or Defence background, capable of working autonomously or within cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include:

Vision and Strategy: Defining and communicating the department's vision in alignment with company strategy.

Team Leadership: Motivating, coaching, and managing team performance; leading knowledge-sharing and coordination.

Resource Management: Allocating consultants to projects in collaboration with Account Leads.

Capability Development: Developing service offerings in Requirements Engineering, System Architecture, MBSE, and Support.

Training and Development: Organizing training, coaching on tools, and ensuring coherent recruitment and performance reviews.

Business Development: Supporting bids, technical approaches, and identifying new capability needs.

Technical Assurance: Providing technical guidance to ensure high-quality project deliverables.

Recruitment: Attracting and recruiting new team members through networking, thought leadership, and advertising.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Applicants should have a strong understanding of requirements management, experience with Defence projects, and knowledge of UK MOD processes and tools like DOORS. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, working within government sectors, and developing employees is essential.

Candidates must have:

• Right to work in the UK and SC clearance or eligibility to obtain it.
• Degree or relevant experience.
• Significant Defence-related Systems Engineering experience.
• Engineering Chartership or equivalent.
