  • Graduate Engineer (UK minimum MEng or other national equivalent).
  • UK CEng (Chartered Engineer) or other national equivalent.
  • Experienced technical and professional leadership to a community of Engineers.
  • Proven leadership of projects/activities across a range of Design Engineering Processes.
  • Developed and deployed extensive personal and professional networks.
  • Experience as a sponsor of Process Excellence Projects.
  • Preferably with experience in product/engine-level development across the widest range of lifecycle stages (strategic, conceptual, NPI, in-service).

What you will be doing

  • Lead Systems Engineering and Product Performance holistically across Civil, Defence and RRPS, with accountability for Systems Design and Architecting, Systems Engineering and V&V, Product Performance, Platform Systems Analysis, Engine Environmental Protection and Configuration & Data Management

  • Lead and integrate all SEPP activity within the Business

  • Govern the deployment of Global Design Engineering processes in the business

  • Co-ordinate professional development of Design Engineering Skills in the business

  • Own and lead the capability boards for Systems Engineering (sole ownership of SVV) and Fluid Mechanics (for PEN, jointly with Fluid Mechanics)

  • Lead and integrate the Product Lines Strategic Initiative

  • Lead the deployment of best in class advanced design processes, methods, technologies and systems within the business to achieve benchmark levels of performance

  • Own the SEPP Safety Assurance Board, feeding into the Design and Service Engineering Safety Assurance Framework

  • Define and flow R&T strategy through technology board framework at Engine System level

  • Deploy Global Design Engineering Processes & Standards and Engineering Specifications in the business

  • Lead the development and application of the best practice Design methodology for the Products/Commodities owned by the business

  • Ensure the effective deployment of Technical Authority and Governance on all technical changes and compliance to Design Intent and Engineering Standards

  • Deliver Capability Acquisition and Product Introduction activities in line with business and customer requirements

  • Manage the development of Design Processes & Technology relationships with Joint Ventures, Rolls-Royce Strategic Partners and other strategic business partners

  • Lead the deployment of corporate Design Engineering IT Systems in the business

  • Plan Man Eng resource, skills & capability requirements at team and individual level

  • Actively contribute to the development of corporate Standards and Best Practice Method of Design

  • Create a professional Design Engineering community which can support the business processes and objectives

  • Represent the business in Strategic Product Development Reviews
