The Role

Are you passionate about sustainability and ready to make a significant impact in the Maritime Transport division? We are looking for a dynamic individual to develop, lead, and deliver our comprehensive Sustainability Strategy Plan.

In this influential role, you will be at the forefront of implementing sustainability initiatives, ensuring they are coherently developed, effectively progressed, and meticulously monitored. You will have the opportunity to challenge and inspire stakeholders, driving forward our sustainability agenda with enthusiasm and expertise.

Additionally, you will play a crucial role in identifying new business opportunities beyond our core operations, contributing to the sustainable growth of our business.

Role Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement a sustainability strategy, goals and KPIs aligned with the Group's overall strategy, with a focus on emissions reduction and energy efficiency
  • Drive and deliver sustainability projects, including continuous improvement of operations and trialing innovative technologies
  • Work with Group and Division stakeholders to monitor for changes in policy and regulation relating to Sustainability and ESG matters, interpret changes in the external sustainability environment to mitigate risk and ensure compliance
  • Advocate for sustainability within the division by influencing decision - making at all levels to integrate sustainability into business practices
  • Assess the Division's current ESG performance and identify ways to improve
  • Monitor Group sustainability performance and integration, making recommendations for adjustments where necessary to deliver against targets. On a quarterly basis, and as required, report on the sustainability performance, progress against targets, risks, opportunities and issues.
  • Prepare regular sustainability updates to report to Group and external parties in relation to the Divisional achievements, challenges and impacts.
  • Manage the budget for sustainability projects including allocating resources appropriately, securing funding for new initiatives and ensuring sustainability investments deliver value to the business
  • Combining own depth of knowledge with broader Group's subject matter experts and teams to provide a superior output through collaborative thinking.
  • Educate and train employees on sustainability practices, to inspire and catalyse change.
  • Represent the Division at the UK Chamber of Shipping and other relevant groups
Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

  • Sustainability trained with at least three years' experience
  • BSc in Economics/Finance or a STEM-related subject
  • Experience in Maritime Transport and/or Maritime sector with awareness of best practices across relevant industries
  • Post-graduate or professional qualification (e.g., chartered engineer status) is desirable
  • Lean trained, Lean Sigma Black Belt preferred
  • Business and commercial acumen with a Proven ability to set and deliver medium and long-term strategy, budget, and resource plans
  • International mindset with strong understanding of cultural dynamics
  • Highly collaborative and effective communicator and influencer who possesses leadership skills, adaptable to various situations and audiences
  • Delivery focused strategic and innovative thinker
  • Detailed and analytical, proficient in developing complex financial business report
  • Versatile influencer, capable of building long-term collaborative relationships
  • Ability to coach and develop talent
  • Safety leadership
