Responsibilities

Strategic Supply Chain Leadership

  • Lead the development and execution of a global supply chain strategy aligned with fast-paced R&D and long-term production goals.
  • Define and implement business capabilities across supply chain sourcing, logistics, planning, compliance, and cost optimisation.
  • Build a supply network that is resilient, cost-effective, and scalable from prototype to production.

Procurement & Sourcing

  • Own sourcing strategy and procurement operations across electromechanical, electronic, and custom components.
  • Ensure high availability, short lead times, and competitive pricing across all categories.
  • Build strategic supplier relationships and performance management systems.
  • Drive cost modelling and commercial negotiation to ensure value at every stage.

Global Logistics & Trade Operations

  • Design and manage international logistics infrastructure across our R&D centers in the UK, US, and Canada.
  • Oversee the movement of materials and assemblies, ensuring compliance, speed, and cost-efficiency.
  • Manage customs, import/export controls, and trade risks across jurisdictions.

Business Process & Systems Design

  • Architect and implement core operational processes, including BOM structuring, inventory visibility, planning workflows, and supplier portals.
  • Select and deploy fit-for-purpose tools (e.g., ERP, MRP, PLM) to support execution at scale.
  • Define operational metrics and dashboards for supply health, lead times, and cost performance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with engineering, advanced manufacturing, prototype production, finance, and executive teams to deliver at speed.
  • Support NPI, pilot builds, and the transition to contract manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with compliance/legal to manage dual-use goods, export restrictions, and sensitive component tracking.

Expertise

  • Demonstrated success leading strategic supply chain development in high-growth or fast-paced product companies.
  • Strong command of global sourcing, logistics, compliance, and cost management.
  • Experience designing and implementing supply chain business capabilities and operational systems from scratch.
  • Deep understanding of prototype and production supply chains across multi-site R&D environments.
  • Highly collaborative and execution-driven—able to zoom between strategy and detail on a daily basis.

Bonus Points:

  • Background in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing or early-stage contract manufacturing transitions.
  • Knowledge of robotic systems, actuation, sensing, and electromechanical integration.
  • Experience with ERP/PLM/MRP system design and rollout.
  • Familiarity with ITAR, EAR, or other export compliance frameworks.
