They are seeking an experienced and strategic Business Development professional to lead the growth of their skills training provision. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the future of a respected organisation that genuinely changes lives.

Details of this position

The role is for Head of Strategy and Growth.

You will be responsible for growth aligned with the organisation's goals, focusing on funding generated from tendering, grant applications, trusts and foundations, direct proposals, and corporate sponsorships.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Strategic Thinking: Contributing to the organisation's business growth strategy and aligning operational activities with long-term goals.
  2. Employer Engagement: Building partnerships, managing relationships, and creating opportunities for employer-funded training.
  3. Commercial Expertise: Understanding funding mechanisms with local authorities and revenue streams.
  4. Compliance Expertise: Knowledge of quality standards.
  5. Networking: Establishing relationships with employers, industry bodies, and other stakeholders.
  6. Communication Skills: Influencing, negotiating, and collaborating with diverse audiences.
  7. Data Analysis: Interpreting data to measure impact, identify opportunities, and drive improvements.

Work schedule: 37.5 hours/week (Hybrid), with travel to Birmingham Office and Leicester HQ.

Salary: Up to £55,000 depending on experience, with annual increments based on performance.

Candidate criteria:

  • Experience in business development, employer engagement, and stakeholder management in FE or skills training sectors.
  • Understanding of funding mechanisms and training delivery.
  • Proven success in securing new business and increasing revenue.
  • Experience with ESFA contracts, levy-paying employers, and sector partnerships.
  • Proficiency with CRM, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office.
  • Qualifications or relevant experience in education, training, or business development (desirable).

Ideal candidates will be enthusiastic, resilient, and have a humanistic approach. The role involves working with vulnerable populations, requiring appropriate clearance, and may involve work with under 18s or vulnerable adults. Applicants will undergo vetting and DBS checks.
