We are seeking a dynamic leader for the newly created Head of Strategic HR Operations role. This pivotal position will focus on driving HR operations, innovating services aligned with our core values, and leading Trade Union relations.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Lead on key HR functions including Employee Relations, Pay and Reward, HR Policy, HR Systems, Recruitment, and Trade Union Relations.
  2. Collaborate with leaders and stakeholders to develop strategies for excellent employment relations and an innovative pay and reward strategy to attract and retain essential skills.
  3. Drive continuous improvement and innovation in HR operations to provide outstanding service and user-friendly manager self-service.
  4. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, manage budgets effectively, and utilize resources efficiently to deliver value for money.

What you'll need to succeed

  1. Significant experience leading HR operations within a complex organization, with strong leadership and team management skills; prior experience in Local Government is highly advantageous.
  2. Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills; experience working with Trade Unions or similar industrial associations.
  3. A strategic thinker with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement, focused on operational delivery.
  4. In-depth knowledge of HR regulations, legislation, and best practices, with an understanding of national and local government developments, policies, and emerging trends, especially around pay & reward.
