We have a brand-new opportunity in the Boots Opticians Optical Development team for a Head of Strategic Partnerships.

As NHS and regulatory landscapes evolve and technology advances, you will be key in helping inform our clinical strategy as we transform business systems and processes to unlock value.

About the role

You will lead insight into and have expert knowledge of the external regulatory and governmental environment which will guide our immediate and long-term plans. Reporting into the Director of Optical Development, you will influence key decisions by working with external professional bodies and our internal Public Affairs team, supporting our involvement in NHS and governmental lobbying across the devolved nations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Represent Boots Opticians externally as an opinion leader, building strong external networks, identifying risks and opportunities in the external environment.
  • Influencing and lobbying regulatory bodies & the NHS where appropriate to protect and enhance the profession.
  • Lead for Opticians on healthcare consultations.
  • Work with our wider internal healthcare community and Public Affairs team to create integrated Boots messaging with the NHS and Government.
  • Partner with clinical colleagues with external roles and influence across Boots Opticians to create the strategy to make us successful in a transforming industry, working with the Optical Development and Professional Services teams.
  • Develop and lead on our industry transformation roadmap, providing key activity milestones directly linked to NHS and regulatory changes.
  • Deliver key elements of the BOPS strategy on the 3YP, working closely with Professional Services and Optical Development.
  • Provide insight into OFNC and GOS impacts.
  • Travel nationwide to meet with partners, both internal and external to Boots Opticians.
What you'll need to have
  • A background in either healthcare policy or extensive optical regulatory/membership bodies experience is essential.
  • A knowledge of the systems used to facilitate both clinical services and referrals.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to think strategically.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to prioritise a varied and unpredictable workload.
  • The ability to develop positive stakeholder relationships both inside and outside of the business.
  • Proven history of embedding and transforming strategies and initiatives within a similar organisation.
It would be great if you also have
  • Qualified clinician registered with the General Optical Council (GOC) an advantage.
  • A vast knowledge of the regulatory, membership body and NHS ecosystem including GOS an advantage.
