Who We Are

We're rebuilding the energy transaction system, making it transparent and fair.

tem exists to put power back in the hands of people. Today’s wholesale energy market is stacked in favour of the few. It's a product of an age of oil and gas, riddled with markups and middlemen. We’re changing that.

Our product, RED, built on a proprietary pricing engine that bypasses the wholesale market, enables businesses to buy the energy produced by renewable generators directly. That's 100% transparent transactions, ensuring affordable bills and fair compensation, to give every business ownership and control over where their energy comes from.

Since launching in 2021, we’ve saved UK businesses and generators over £20 million, powering a growing network of forward-thinking companies, from Pizza Pilgrims to Silverstone. Backed by top-tier VCs such as Atomico and Albion, we’re creating a new category in energy — one that’s local, decentralised, and built on trust.

The Role

We’re hiring a Strategic Finance Lead (FP&A) to help tem scale with confidence, clarity, and commercial discipline. You’ll be our first dedicated FP&A hire, building the foundations of our financial strategy and embedding the operating rhythms and decision support we need to grow.

In your first 12 months, you’ll own company-wide forecasting, margin and scenario modelling, and investor-ready reporting. You’ll become the go-to partner to our CEO, exec team, and board—helping them navigate growth, risk, and performance through sharp analysis and strategic insight.

Responsibilities

  • Own the model – Build and continuously evolve company-wide revenue, margin, and scenario models to inform strategic decisions across the business.
  • Lead the planning cadence – Run budgeting and forecasting rhythms in partnership with exec and commercial leads—ensuring alignment and adaptability as we grow.
  • Power investor confidence – Produce financial narratives, forecasts, and materials for board reporting and fundraising, with clarity and credibility at their core.
  • Partner across the business – Work closely with Product, Commercial, Data, and Ops to track performance, spot trends, and guide resource decisions.
  • Build for scale – Lay the foundation for a high-performance FP&A function, embedding best-in-class standards, tools, and metrics.

Requirements

Must-Haves

  • Experience in high-growth environments—ideally from Seed/Series A through Series B or later.
  • Prior ownership of financial planning & strategy in scale-up, marketplace, fintech, SaaS, or energy businesses.
  • Demonstrated ability to support executive and board-level decision making, with ownership of financial comms and forecasting.
  • Proven track record in building and evolving forecasting models, from blank-slate to business-wide adoption.
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams to drive commercial, GTM, or international expansion strategy.

Bonus Points For

  • Involvement in successful fundraising processes or investor-facing financial narratives.
  • Familiarity with energy economics or pricing models in regulated/complex markets.

Benefits & Perks

  • Competitive salary – our current band for this role is £150,000–160,000 depending on experience.
    • We review salaries twice a year using real-time market data, with transparent, consistent pay for the same role and level.
  • Stock Options – everyone on the team has ownership in our mission.
  • 25 days holiday + public holidays – Swap public holidays for ones that matter most to you. Plus, get an extra day off for your birthday .
  • Remote & flexible working – We’re fully remote with clear core hours, and no internal meetings on Friday afternoons.
  • Home working & wellbeing budgets:
    • Up to £1,200 / €1,200 annually to upgrade your remote setup (co-working passes, equipment, etc.).
    • Up to £150 / €150 monthly on anything that supports your wellbeing – from therapy to gym memberships to meditation apps.
️ Interview Process

Our processes normally take around 2–3 weeks from first call to offer – please let us know about any adjustments to timelines that may be required.

  • First call with our Talent Team (30 mins) – Get to know you, your goals, and what you're looking for.
  • Behavioural interview with the CEO (60 mins) – Focused on your approach to financial strategy, stakeholder collaboration, and growth-stage environments.
  • Skills interview (60–90 mins) – Present a short case covering forecasting or scenario planning, and walk us through your thinking.
  • Culture-add interview (45 mins) – A conversation with cross-functional team members to explore values, working style, and fit.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences, and identities, including those that are traditionally underrepresented in the tech and energy sectors. If you’re excited about this role but not sure you meet every requirement, we’d still love to hear from you. Your unique perspective could be exactly what we’re looking for.
