Salford Community Leisure (SCL) is a dynamic, non-for-profit organisation committed to enriching the lives of the people in and around Salford through sports, leisure, culture, and well-being. As part of our ambitious vision, we are reimagining how leisure services can adopt healthier communities, reduce inequalities, and drive economic and environmental sustainability.

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Head of Sport and Leisure to lead this transformation, shaping a future where leisure is accessible, inclusive, and impactful for all.

The Role
As Head of Sport and Leisure, you will play a pivotal role in delivering our local authority’s strategic priorities for leisure, supporting a bold 10-year vision for Salford. You will lead the development and implementation of initiatives that enhance the lives of our residents and position Salford as a leader in modern, sustainable leisure services.

About You
We are looking for an exceptional leader who combines strategic vision with a passion for delivering outstanding sport and leisure services. You will bring:

  • Proven Leadership: Significant experience in managing large-scale sport/leisure/community services, facilities, or programs.
  • Strategic Vision: A track record of developing and delivering long-term strategies that drive participation and achieve.
  • Community-Centric Approach: A deep understanding of how sport and leisure services can address community needs, tackle inequalities, and improve health and wellbeing.
  • Partnership Skills: The ability to engage and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including public, private, and third-sector organisations.
  • Innovation and Adaptability: Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to emerging trends and challenges.
  • Financial Expertise: Strong experience in managing budgets, generating income, and securing funding for new initiatives.
  • Commitment to Sustainability: A forward-thinking approach to environmental sustainability in sport and leisure services.
