Job summary

ESA Space Mechanisms in Harwell (ECSAT) seeks a Head of the Space Segment Section to lead technology and product development for satellite communication systems. You will report to the division head, manage resources, and drive innovative solutions with industry partners.

The role requires a master’s degree (8 years) or a bachelor’s with 12 years of related experience, strong leadership, and proven coordination with international stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant domain with 8+ years of experience OR Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in satellite communication technology and product development is essential.
• Familiarity with ESA processes and international collaboration is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Space Segment Section including technology and product development activities for satellite comms.
• Coordinate reporting to ESA management and delegations, and manage section manpower and resources.
• Provide engineering support, drive roadmaps, and promote ARTES IC programme activities.
• Collaborate with other ESA directorates and ensure dashboards for internal monitoring.
