Are you an experienced Sociology Teacher ready to take the lead? A School in Newham is recruiting a Head of Sociology to join their Humanities faculty in September 2025.

This full-time, permanent position comes with a TLR2B and is ideal for someone with a clear vision for how Sociology can empower students to think critically, question deeply, and engage meaningfully with the world around them.

As Head of Department, you'll lead the delivery of Sociology across KS4 and KS5, ensuring that students are supported and challenged to achieve their full potential. Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven experience teaching Sociology at KS4 and KS5
  • Leadership experience within a subject or phase desirable
  • Strong understanding of the Sociology curriculum and assessment frameworks
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and team leadership skills
  • A commitment to inclusive education and reflective teaching practice
  • Passion for helping students understand and engage with society and culture
