Head of Service Safeguarding and Quality Assurance — Location: Medway • Salary: £61,140–£73,241 per annum • Closing date: 26 October 2025

We are seeking a visionary Head of Service for Safeguarding and Quality Assurance to play a pivotal leadership role in driving excellence, innovation, and positive outcomes across our children\'s services.

About the role

As the Head of Service Safeguarding and Quality Assurance, you will provide strategic leadership and direction to ensure Medway\'s safeguarding standards remain robust, responsive, and child-focused. You\'ll lead on quality assurance, oversee Ofsted preparation, and champion continuous improvement across all safeguarding functions.

You will bring
  • A recognised Social Work qualification (e.g. Degree, PGC in Social Work, CQSW, DipSW or equivalent)
  • Registration with Social Work England
  • A Level 5 Management qualification (NVQ or equivalent)
  • Extensive management experience, including leading through change
  • Significant experience in safeguarding and quality assurance within children\'s services
  • Proven success in planning for and contributing to Ofsted inspections
  • Strong understanding of the legislative and policy framework for services to children, young people, and families
  • Experience working within a Signs of Safety framework
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
