Salary: £61,140 - £73,241 per annum + £18,307 in allowances (Special Allowance: £5,307 | Skill Allowance: £10,000 | Out of Hours: £3,000) + excellent benefits

Medway Council is seeking an experienced and inspirational leader to take on the pivotal role of Head of Service - Safeguarding and Quality Assurance within the Children\'s Services division.

The Role
As Head of Service - Safeguarding and QA, you will:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Safeguarding and Quality Assurance service.
- Drive improvement in practice and performance across Children\'s Services, ensuring positive outcomes for children, young people, and families.
- Lead and manage the Quality Assurance Unit, including the IRO Service, LADO, Child Protection Chairs, and MSCB Business Support.
- Work closely with senior leaders and partners to promote a culture of high standards, transparency, and accountability.
- Oversee service budgets and ensure efficient delivery within financial constraints.
- Contribute to the strategic vision and development of Children\'s Services, shaping policy and driving service improvement.
Requirements
- Applicants must:
- Hold a recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent).
- Be registered with Social Work England.
- Hold an NVQ Level 5 in Management or equivalent leadership qualification.
- Have substantial management experience, including leading teams through change.
- Demonstrate extensive understanding of the legislative and policy framework governing children\'s services.
- Have proven experience contributing to Ofsted inspection readiness and improvement.
- Evidence continuous professional development.
- Experience of working within a Signs of Safety framework is desirable.
