The job itself

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced leader to join our team, in the East Riding of Yorkshire Council Children’s Services. We are a good children’s services, and we continue to strive with our partners to achieve excellence for children in our local area.

The cornerstone of our work is the belief that all families are experts in their lives and our job is to help them find solutions when things get difficult. We want all children to live happy healthy lives preferably in their own families and networks, so we work WITH them to safely achieve this.

The Head of Service for Quality Assurance and Partnerships is responsible for the strategic leadership of all quality assurance and independent review services to ensure practice is good and achieving strong outcomes for children. The role is responsible for driving delivery of the Local Safeguarding Partnership through the business unit and promoting a culture of learning with oversight of all inspection readiness work.

You will need to have humility as a leader, be able to operate under pressure within a complex organisational system, manage budgets, advocate for children at all levels and be ready to work relationally in a culture of high support and challenge. You will need to be a strong social work practice leader with excellent communication skills and experience operating at a senior level with children and their families, partner agencies, corporate colleagues and elected members.
