Spinwell Global Limited is seeking a Head of Service (Permanence) to lead across statutory children’s social care and oversee Dorset’s Permanence Service. The role requires directing management of teams, influencing practice and partnerships to secure enduring, positive outcomes for children and young people.

The post offers hybrid working in Dorchester with a daily pay rate up to £600, and a fixed-term contract until 26/03/2027.

Qualifications

• Must hold Social Work qualification and registration (where applicable).
• Extensive leadership in children's services and permanence.
• Strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and statutory frameworks.
• Experience managing safeguarding and permanence arrangements.
• Proven track record in service improvement.
• Strong partnership-building and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience leading large multidisciplinary teams and managing budgets.
• The ability to influence at senior strategic level across organisations.
• Social Work qualification and registration (where applicable).

Spinwell is recruiting for a Head of Service (Permanence) for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE HEAD OF SERVICE (PERMANENCE)

As Head of Permanence, you will provide leadership across a range of statutory children's social care services, ensuring high-quality practice and positive outcomes for children and young people.

You will oversee Dorset's Permanence Service, including direct line management of the Service Manager and three Permanence Teams, while influencing practice across wider Children in Care services.

Working alongside senior leaders and multi-agency partners, you will play a key role in ensuring every child experiences effective care planning, permanence planning, and enduring relationships that support them throughout their lives.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE HEAD OF SERVICE (PERMANENCE)

• Extensive leadership experience within Children's Services
• Proven experience leading Children in Care and Permanence Services
• Strong understanding of the Children Act 1989 and relevant statutory frameworks
