Job summary

Unknown Organisation is seeking an experienced Service Manager / Senior Service Manager with a strong safeguarding background to provide strategic leadership across Family Safeguarding and Children's Social Care. The role combines operational oversight with performance, improvement and strategic development.

Candidates should have extensive Children's Social Care leadership experience at head of service level or equivalent, with a proven track record in service improvement and multi-agency

Qualifications

• Significant senior leadership experience within Children's Social Care.
• Previous experience operating at Head of Service level or substantial equivalent senior management experience.
• Strong experience within Family Safeguarding, Child Protection or related statutory services.
• Proven track record of performance improvement and service improvement.
• Strong understanding of business intelligence, performance data and management information, turning insight into action.
• Experience of quality assurance, audits and improving practice standards.
• Strong operational grip and ability to identify and respond to risk or underperformance.
• Experience of managing significant budgets and resources.
• Knowledge of statutory Children's Social Care and safeguarding practice.
• Ability to lead and influence senior managers, practitioners and multi-agency partners.

Responsibilities

• Providing strategic and operational leadership across Family Safeguarding and Children's Social Care services.
• Driving service improvement and transformation with clear standards and expectations.
• Using performance data, MI and BI to identify trends, risks and areas for improvement.
• Strengthening performance management and ensuring leaders have grip on service delivery.
• Overseeing quality assurance, audits and performance measures; translating findings into improvements.
• Providing leadership and oversight to senior managers and operational teams.
• Ensuring safeguarding risk is managed and practice standards are high.
• Managing budgets and resources for value for money.
• Building partnerships across Children's Services and multi-agency partners.
• Supporting workforce development and creating a culture of improvement.
• Contributing to wider strategic priorities and continuous improvement.
