Job description
About The Role

Please note that this is a full-time role working 36 hours per week, with full flexibility required, including alternate weekend working.

As Head of Service at HC-One, you’ll value one thing above all: Kindness. It influences every aspect of our Dementia, Nursing, Residential, and Specialist Care homes. Every person working here understands that our Residents are individuals with their own stories. Joining HC-One gives you a wonderful opportunity to give back to these individuals.

Your responsibilities include preparing and serving nutritious, healthy meals that residents will love, assisting with morning tea and dessert preparations, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene. You will also be responsible for managing food supplies, fridge/freezer temperatures, training new starters on equipment, and ensuring a clean environment, always with resident well-being in mind.

We seek someone with kitchen experience who is familiar with The Food Safety Act 1990, The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, RIDDOR, and COSHH regulations. Strong record-keeping and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to follow recipes. When communicating with residents and colleagues, you should be considerate and kind — after all, it’s in your nature.

Subject To Experience And Qualifications

We will provide full training, making this a great opportunity to learn new skills. In return, you will enjoy a wide range of benefits, including:

  • Paid Enhanced DBS/PVG
  • Free uniform
  • A nutritious meal during shifts of eight hours or more
  • Company pension scheme
  • 28 days annual leave including bank holidays
  • Group life assurance
  • Learning and development opportunities with support for qualifications
  • GP online service for you and your children under 16
  • Learning from experienced colleagues in a supportive team
  • Colleague discounts at over 1600 high street stores
  • Free access to Employee Assistance Programme for physical, mental, and financial support
  • Recognition schemes like ‘Kindness in Care’ and Long Service Awards
  • Referral scheme offering up to £1000 per successful referral

We aim for a quick onboarding process from offer to start date.
