Offshore Picturesque Location, South Atlantic

2-Year Fixed Term Contract | Immediate Start Available

£65k pa + International Market Supplement

If you’re a senior social care leader ready for something completely different—this is the opportunity for you.

This is a rare chance to live and work on the remote and remarkable island of St Helena, a self-governing UK Overseas Territory in the South Atlantic. You’ll take on a key strategic leadership role in a welcoming and close-knit community where your work will have a lasting impact across all areas of social care.

As Head of Service for Children’s and Adults’ Social Care—including Probation—you’ll be responsible for safeguarding, statutory compliance, care planning, workforce development and strategic improvement. You’ll also lead the integration of health and social care, while building strong relationships with UK Government bodies and local agencies.

You’ll support and develop your teams, influence service transformation, and play a critical role in shaping social care for the future of the island.

This is a fantastic opportunity to use your leadership experience to make a measurable difference to the lives of children, families and vulnerable adults, while enjoying a lifestyle change few ever experience.

Benefits:

  • £65k pa (depending on experience), plus International Supplement
  • Free return travel to the island & relocation support
  • 30 days annual leave, plus public holidays
  • 7.5% pension contribution
  • Unique lifestyle in a safe, scenic island community (population just over 4,000!)
  • Opportunity to lead strategic change and influence service-wide development
  • Make a genuine impact across an integrated social care system

As this is a statutory role, you do require a UK-recognised social work qualification & registration with Social Work England.
