Head of SEO - Independent Digital Marketing Agency - Remote

The Company:

An exciting opportunity to join a high-growth, award-winning UK digital marketing agency. Due to new client acquisitions and expansion of the SEO team, we are seeking a Head of SEO to lead and manage the team.

Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will lead a talented team of SEO specialists, overseeing daily operations and strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Own the SEO department, providing guidance, leadership, and direction to a team of SEO professionals.
  2. Drive operational and process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  3. Develop and implement innovative SEO strategies for clients across e-commerce, retail, charity, healthcare, and B2B sectors, remaining hands-on when necessary.
  4. Collaborate with clients and colleagues to refine SEO processes.
  5. Support sales, client services, and directors with SEO expertise in meetings and reviews.
  6. Set and achieve strategic goals for the department.
  7. Prepare reports, participate in client meetings, and deliver presentations.

About You:

  • Proven experience as a Head of SEO, SEO Director, or Senior SEO Manager within an agency environment, ready for the next career step.
  • Strong understanding of SEO strategy with a track record of improving organic performance.
  • Ability to manage multiple client projects and campaigns effectively through your team.
  • Excellent technical SEO skills.
  • Good client management and communication skills, able to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency with SEO and analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Majestic, and Screaming Frog.
  • Experience working with international clients is preferred.
  • Familiarity with development practices and CMS platforms like WordPress, Shopify, and Magento.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
