About your team

The Chief Customer Office (CCO) drives commercial growth across Centrica Retail through exceptional customer experience and compelling product and service propositions.

We’re seeking a passionate and strategic Head of SEO to lead organic growth for our brands. You will work across all UK Centrica retail brands, including British Gas and Hive, developing onsite growth strategies to attract more customers effectively and efficiently through SEO and SEM.

About your role:

This role is key in enhancing our online presence and ensuring our content reaches the right audience. The Head of SEO will develop and implement effective SEO strategies, manage in-house and agency teams, and collaborate across departments to meet business goals. A major focus is to build and strengthen our in-house SEO capabilities to reduce reliance on external agencies.

What will you be doing?

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute SEO strategies to improve organic search rankings and drive traffic to British Gas and Hive websites.
  • Identify Opportunities: Conduct keyword research and analysis to find content optimisation and creation opportunities.
  • Technical SEO: Oversee technical SEO aspects, including site architecture, crawlability, and indexation.
  • Collaborate: Work with content creators to ensure SEO best practices are integrated into content development.
  • Performance reporting: Monitor and analyse website performance using SEO tools, providing regular reports and insights.
  • Keep up to date: Stay informed about the latest SEO trends, algorithm updates, and industry best practices.
  • Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of three SEO specialists, supporting their professional growth.
  • Growth alignment: Collaborate with marketing, product, and development teams to align SEO efforts with business objectives.

Here's what we’re looking for:

You should have a proven track record of driving organic growth and improving search rankings for market-leading organisations, with deep technical SEO expertise. Proficiency in tools like Adobe Analytics, Google Search Console, and SEMrush is essential, along with strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.

In addition:

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse website data, keywords, and SEO metrics to identify opportunities and issues.
  • Judgment and Reasoning: Make informed decisions based on data and industry trends.
  • Creativity and Innovation: Develop new strategies that align with the latest SEO trends and updates.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work effectively with content, marketing, product, and development teams.
  • Leadership: Provide guidance and support to a team of SEO specialists.
